SSC CGL examination is conducted for recruitment into Group B and Group C posts. SSC CGL examination is conducted over 4 different stages named tiers. The first two tiers of the SSC CGL examination are conducted over online mode. The next two tiers of the examination are conducted over offline mode. Tier-I of SSC CGL examination will have four sections – English comprehension, general awareness, english intelligence and reasoning, quantitative aptitude.
Tier II of SSC CGL examination will have four papers – Statistics, Quantitative Abilities, English Language and Comprehension, General Studies. Tier-III of SSC CGL examination will have one descriptive paper in English or Hindi. Tier IV consists of computer proficiency test or skill test. The SSC CGL Notification for 2020-21 was released on 29th December 2020. As per SSC CGL Notification, the SSC CGL 2021 application form filling procedures has to be completed by January 31, 2021. The last date for online fees payment of SSC CGL 2021 examination is 2nd February 2021.
As per SSC CGL Notification the last date for generation of offline challan for SSC CGL 2021 examination is 6th February 2021. The Tier I computer based examinations for SSC CGL 2021 are scheduled from 29th May 2021 to 7th June 2021. There are plenty of Group B and Group C posts which are filled through SSC CGL examination. Some of the Government posts filled with SSC CGL exams are Assistant Sections Officer in different Departments or ministries such as Central Secretariat Service, Ministry of External Affairs, Intelligence Bureau, AFHQ, Ministry of Railways, all these are Group B posts. Assistant Audit Officer under Indian Audit & Accounts Department, this is a Group B post; Assistant Accounts Officer under Indian Audit & Accounts Department, which is also a Group B post. The other posts which are filled through this examination are Inspector (Central Excise, Preventive Officer, Examiner) in CBIC department, these come under Group B posts.
The Group C posts filled through SSC CGL exams are the post of Accountant under CGDA department, post of Sub Inspector under the Central Bureau of Narcotics department, post of Upper Divisions Clerk under the Department of Dte. Gen Border Road Organisation (MoD), post of Accountant/ Junior Accountant under Other Ministry/ Departments, post of Auditor under CGDA, post of Tax Assistant under CBIC department, post of Auditor in Offices under C&AG, post of Tax Assistant under CBDT, post of Senior Secretariat Assistant/ Upper Division Clerks for the departments that comes under Central Govt. Offices/ Ministries other than CSCS cadres, post of Inspector of Income Tax which comes under the department of CBDT.
Under SSC CGL Tier I, General Intelligence and Reasoning section will have 25 questions and for a total of 50 marks. General Awareness section will have 25 questions for a total of 50 marks. Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension sections also will have 25 questions each and each section will be evaluated for a maximum score of 50 marks. Under Tier-II, all four papers will be for 200 marks each. Quantitative Abilities, Statistics and General Studies will have 100 questions each. English Language and Comprehension will have 200 questions.
Some of the eligibility criteria required while appearing for SSC CGL exams are a candidate should complete bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or institute, the candidate should be in the age group of 18 years to 32 years, the candidate should be a citizen of India.
